Love prevails...
The third in my Poetic Reflections series - short poems and thoughts on writing and theme. Also available on my YouTube channel.
These poetic videos are invitations to slow down, and drop into a mindful moment in your day-to-day. A space for deepening our connection to the world. A communion with both our inner and outer landscapes.
Love prevails
This poem was written for a friend, following the death of her daughter. In it I consider the fragility of life, and the idea of both the beauty of finding freedom and the sadness of death.
As you’ll hear, it was the hardest of the three I have so far recorded to talk about. A sense of the poem still being so recent, and therefore, in a way, still ‘live’.
In the metaphor of the bird, trapped in the greenhouse, there was a feeeling of both fragility, and then, freedom.
As always, I’d love to hear your own reflections on my words in the comments below.
Thank you.
So beautiful and moving. My heart goes out to Lucia, her family and you for expressing so wonderfully the joy and the sorrow of love and death. It reminds me of the phrase from Rumi: We must have shadow and light source both. Listen and lay your head under the tree of awe.
Thank you Ayaz. x Lynn
